Quite possibly the best decision you’ll make in college—that’s the slogan for Project Life Movement on college campuses across the country. Based out of Charlotte, NC, this nonprofit foundation focuses on recruiting college students to register as bone marrow donors to increase the number of potential donors in the pool.
But why college students? Donors around the ages of college students typically have the most successful donation processes if they are chosen. This is important because 60 percent of those in need of a life-giving donation currently can’t find a donor match. For those with leukemia, lymphoma, and sickle cell anemia amongst other blood cancers and diseases, bone marrow donations are the only hope for a successful treatment.
To sign up to become a bone marrow donor, the process is simple, noninvasive and painless—all it takes is a cheek swab and a few minutes to register your information!
